Does anyone know the free length of the valvesprings of a '76 F1 engine?

I don't think the F1 valve assembly change much from the orginal design. I'vr been using the figures:
Inner springs 38.1 mm, with a wear limit of 37.0 mm
Outer springs 41.2 mm, with a wear limit of 40.0 mm

BTW where did you get the fairing from

Hey Johnny,
That's odd, your figures are the same as what is in my '74 Workshop Owners Manual, but.......I measured the inner springs 40.1 mm, and the outer springs at 43 mm! With the help of a friend, who own's a shop in Holland specialized in SOHC's, we found in a supplement, of a '76 WOM about the F1 engines, that the springs are indeed longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that's sorted.

The fairing is a copy of the ones sold by Airtech in the USA, but I bought it in France. Personally I like it better then the one from Mead Speed.

Regards, Rob

Could they be the same as F2 springs, my manual says F2 specs are:

Inner 40.3mm, wear limit 39.14mm
Outer 43.05mm wear limit 41.75

Good evening JonnyB,

That could well be, think the F1 was 'a step up' to the F2, although in my opinion the F2 was not as reliable as it's predecessor.

Thanks, Rob

Here made a fix to keep the head during polishing and grinding of the valves.

Hey,

Never heart of JAPAUTO????, where one of the biggest 'French'honda dealers and tuned some beautiful endurance racers in the '70 and '80's.
This one won the 24 hour of the Bol d'or in the early 70's:

Look at the ignition cover.
I bought it in France through the Japauto Club.

Her a pic of the engine with 'sanwichplate', to accomodate the oillines, and screw-on (Vfr) oilfilter:

The bike is looking fantastic; just imagine when it's painted. Are you going to have a 4 into 1 pipe?

Hey Jim,
Thanks, can hardly wait myself to have him painted, but first have to put some small bits and pieces together before I dismantle it. Am busy with mounting some 320 mm Yamaha TZ750 discs on for some serious stopping power. Well there will not be a 4 into 1, but a 4 into 2 into 1. Have changed some headers of a cb900's 4 - 1 and made some stainless collectors and have had a Dunstall replica megaphone from my 2 boys. Will have it painted black.
Will show it when it's ready.

Regards,

Rob
