Who has got CB500 four Reg no XFM 460L

HI,

By my reckoning its 40 years today that I 'wrote off' this bike. However, it turns out its still on the database as SORN.  Does it still live?

Here are a couple of photographs before I wrecked it.

Looks like it could be an air horn compressor and trumpets on there?

Yep it had (has?) work done on it not just the excellent paint, but chrome engine cases, crinkle finish engine, and other bits and pieces, it was fast too.  Far far to good for some spotty twit (me) to throw it down the road after about 3 months of ownership.

But on a positive note, I felt so bad about what I had done to it I bought my current 500/4 in 1983 and have kept it reasonably nice ever since as a sort of sentimental tribute.

And well sussed K2  its an air horn compressor, great if you didn't mind waiting for a few seconds for the horn to sound after the button was pressed [ Guests cannot view attachments ] .  Ho Ho

Here is an arty photo of the bike.

I had Fiamm horns on the bike in my avatar. The compressor was mounted on the horn bracket and the twin air lines went to the horns which were mounted on the Rickman fairing brackets. Agree with the two second delay. It was ridiculous and the source of much comment at the time.
Also, to take the fairing off to clean the bike you had to remove the air horns. Ultimately the plastic air pipes gave up…
