Were there ever any Candy Red K2s?
« on: August 31, 2016, 12:13:07 PM »
Back in 1969 I owned a C100 50cc Cub but drooled over the CB175 etc in the Honda brochure. Getting to the end of the brochure I dribbled even more at the CB750 and then on the back cover was this photo (should be attached) which blew me away. As a spotty 17 year old I thought that guy was so cool!
Since then I've always wanted a Candy Red CB750. I've had a Planet Blue K2 and now have a Sunrise Orange K2; the paint is a bit scabby so think I'll change it to Candy Red.
The question is though: were there ever any Candy Red K2s (in the UK or USA)? Or was it just K0's and K1's?
Thanks in advance.
1974 Honda XL250 K0 - Silver - owned for 32 years. Not running at the moment
1972 Honda CB750 K2 - Now candy apple red - Ex USA, a DK special - needs a lot more work than I thought - very quickly becoming a DS special...

A fellow restorer in Hull bought a K2 mega cheap that was an old US import in the 90's and the guy did nothing with it. He zinc plated everything using my gear and it was featured in Classic Bike. Andy Parnaby painted it Candy Ruby Red as Chris researched it and it was an available colour in the US I think . Something made me feel that it was possibly a transition K1/K2 though, just by odd little K1 features it had but the No's were deffo K2.

Here is the CB article ... he even gave me a mention in it ! They said it was flake orange but it was red.

Haha, I went down that route too! Always a good place to start, if you can find the Parts List (there is one on the sohc.net pages).
You could also have your K2 in Brier Brown Metallic Custom, Flake Sunrise Orange, Candy Gold Custom or Planet Blue Metallic Custom.
Plenty of choice of colour in those days!

Back in 1974 i had a 500/4 and my neighbor 4 doors down had a Candy Red 750.
He only had it 6 months and it was nicked, insurance paid out and he got a gold one.
2 years later his red one turned up in a house 3 doors from the local nick ;D ;D
So yes i would say.

I did start there Ash and found the K3, K4, K5 version.
I have just looked again and found the earlier one as well this time - must have skipped over it last time.
Don't know how I managed that, there are only 1,000,000 pages in the document  :) :)

Yes and its weird 'cos the later Parts manual comes before the early ones. Probably needs spitting up but at least it's a 1 stop shop for early models up to K5. There are some really useful magazine articles right at the end BTW. I use that download all of the time.
