Hard to see here but you can hardly tell the difference close up. Also there is a modern Mazda red that's very similar.

Is it one coat, or maybe one coat plus a clearcoat? (over primer, of course).

That would save a lot of faff compared with the Honda candy 3 pack approach of having to spray it silver first.

It does look really close to the car perhaps the tank is a very small amount more yellow.

It's quite a valid comparison to do it like that as your eye is a really good comparator (assuming no colour blindness) .

You could get them both measured with a colour densitometer if you could get them both into b&q if you need a finite comparison.

Its three stage pearl I think. I Reckon that the Mazda red is even closer.

It's matched to the red on the original tank by Andrew Parnaby . Not sure if its ruby red or not. RS Bikepaints just list it as Candy Red and its listed as part no paint suffix ref 'BF' in my '68/69 Honda Parts Manual In my '69 750 Sandcast manual the red is described as candy ruby red and is paint suffix CM . The CB250SS/SS125/CL125 were the first Honda bikes to use candy paint in 1967/68  AFAIK
