Yes, as a 1971 bike mine is already in the Historic class - from what you say I have to SORN it if it's not back on the road by 1 November, then tax it for free after it gets a new MOT. What a faff!

It is a bit of a faff really when all we want to do is get them on the road and ride them. Ours was a 1971 also but had been off the road for about 25 years so had never been changed to historic.

I got a V11 reminder today, as there is still a few days on the MOT I decided to have a go at renewing, however the website rejected it as the MOT isn't current on the renewal date.

Options were 12 months or SORN, all other boxes were N/A.

I have SORN'd it instead, as I can't get an MOT on boxes of parts. :(

Think positive, you can get an MOT on just a VIN  ;D

Him indoors has just told me I am wrong  ::) ::) ::)You can only do it on a VIN if it's not registered, apologies for that. (Hairy, that's twice this year I have admitted I'm wrong!!!!)
