400f side stand
« on: November 05, 2016, 01:54:02 PM »
Anyone able / kind enough to take me a good clear photo of the side stand bracket? Where it connects to the frame, from a couple of angles if possible.

Cheers

Pop

Here's what mine looks like.  :o ;D

Just checking that the bit I have is all of it, before I go welding it back in place.  ???

If you wanted to go for something a bit different you could perhaps try and get hold of a set of 350/4 downpipes and go for a 4-2 or 4-4 exhaust.
If you went down that route I think you would probably need to move the side stand mount - on the 350 it is further forward.
Something to think about now before you get out your welder.

Cheers Chris, but want to retain the overall look of my Dad's bike, so the pipes are a fundamental.

I'm a little late to the party, but I ran across a similar issue with my 'barn-find' '75. In my case, the sidestand was unusable as the bike sat 'over-centre' and would topple to the RH side.

A welder friend was able to minimize the damage by cutting out and re-welding the section but as I was unsure of the bracket angle necessary to allow the bike to rest at a reasonable attitude when parked, I'll have to wait and see how she sets with the wheels on during the rebuild  :P

Sorry Brian, haven't checked in for ages so missed this.

Be interesting to see if it sits ok once done.

Anyone know the correct angle, as that's a good point and I don't have a point of reference?
