Kawasaki Z1 and CB750 film
« on: December 02, 2016, 01:15:00 PM »
I'm new here. So I thought I'd start off with a film that me and a mate made to
tell the story of how the CB750 led to the Z1.

We're planning on making a follow up to focus just on the CB750 early next year,
but this one is a good start, we reckon:

Looking forward to hearing what you think

Interesting little film. Many people I knew as a teenager bought Z1's, and used to poke fun at my Honda, but I always had the last laugh when it came to bends, the kwackers were trying to tie themselves in knots round fast bends, the swingarms were flexing all over the place, and the brakes were inadequate to say the least (exactly like the earlier H1 500 and H2 750). No use having more power and speed if you can't keep it under control safely! At the end of the day, Honda did it first, and better!
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Great film that brought back so great memories! I swapped my 500 Four in for a Z1B in 75 - very quick compared to everything else at that time (in a straight line!). I used to travel every week from Wigan to Swindon and remember cruising down the M5 at 110 with my girlfriend on the back, tank bag, craven panniers, and a suitcase on a rack on top of the top box - passed 2 cb750s and a kettle with clip on cruising at about a ton - I was sat bolt upright and when I waved when I passed them, one of them just shook his head in disbelief! They where quick! Can't imagine doing that now - happy days

Welcome to the Forum.....with quite an entrance I'd say !

I thought the introduction music was a bit 'iffy' but soon got used to it and then it settled down nicely, so when the raunchy music took over when the Z1 came on the screen.....well that made me sit up and take notice, and when the bikes opened up and disappeared into the distance, that got my old ticker going at a fair old rate. Handful of throttle at high revs and four exhausts takes some beating doesn't it........Billy whiz !

I could have done with a bit less of the 'coming in and out of focus shots'........as I just wanted to see the metal, but overall I thought the film was excellent and a great taster for others in the future......I could certainly see a film going through the various models and years describing the pros and cons of any changes and why they were made would be interesting.

Now that you are a member, I'm sure you'll get loads of help and interest from other members who own the full range of Hondas, so I hope that you'll be able to make more great films.

Good luck and thanks for posting the clip. I'm just going to watch it again !

Never had a Z1, but i had a 78 Z thou and a 1980 Z1 classic efi at the same time, they really were great to ride, road manners were much improved compared to the original Z1, but still not as civilized as the cb750, the road presence is awesome when aboard one. Given the finance i would have both a Z1 and an early cb750 again.
