New 400/4 owner in Hitchin
« on: December 05, 2016, 02:57:54 PM »
Hello everyone,

My name is Andrew I live in Hitchin in Herts, I took the plunge and managed to buy a 1976 CB400/4 in November having been looking for a while, it has been semi restored and was running. In the process of dismantling with the objective of getting it back to it's former glory, this will be my first restoration project and realised that I will need all the help I can get.

Looking forward to the challenge.

Welcome to the forum Andrew. Loads of people on here with a 400/4 its one of the most popular restorations, and the same as the 350/4 in a great many respects. Good luck with the build and dont forget we love pictures on here. Ask whatever you need to even if you think its a daft question. You usually have an answer within a few hours. Very friendly place. Cheers Roy.

Greetings from me too.
My 400 is largely original, not a restoration, just required some recommissioning when I bought it.
As Roy says, there is no such thing as a silly question on here, and plenty of knowledgeable folk who will provide answers.
If you don't already have manuals there are plenty in Ashimoto's Dropbox here: http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,8884.0.html

Aye, what Julie said, from another 400four owner.  Always good advice from people that's done restorations on here.  We do like our photos,  there's some interesting rebuild threads on here along with photos (hint hint)
Hope it all goes well.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Hi Andrew,

Welcome from a fellow 400/4 owner who joined this forum when the spanners came out to dismantle my dirty, leaky, abused old bike.

As Royhall's already said, queries usually answered in hours (or even minutes... within the time it takes to make and drink a cuppa in my experience!).

Good luck,

D.
