I had one on my 750 f1 back in 1977 they are just to go over the tank to protect it. They make the tank surprisingly warm between your legs when you fill up with petrol. They were in the same  colour as the tank . I've been looking for one for the 750f1 I have  now.

Best to put it in the airing cupboard for an hour first otherwise it'll be difficult to fit.  I used to have a black one on my 400 because the paintwork was in poor condition,
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
