Chrome clip on wiring harness ?
« on: February 20, 2017, 10:12:31 AM »
Hi Chaps,
I'm having a few problems finishing the wiring around the headlamp on 400/4. Despite trawling the net I've been unable to find a good picture of the area around the front stop switch. I'm trying to work out the orientation of the chrome clip that holds the wiring harness, and if fact which part of the harness its meant to support, would anyone have a couple of pictures of that area please ? I think the clip bolts to the same bracket as the stop switch ?

Many thanks
Steve

Steve,

I have had a look at my bike. Access is a bit restricted in that area, due to having a fairing fitted, but the only clip I can see in that area is bolted to the bottom yoke (see pic) and is not chrome.

There is a chrome wire clip that bolts to the horn mounting bolts - could it be that one? If so then we've been here before! See this thread for more details: http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,8610.msg58095.html#msg58095

There are also some diagrams showing cable routing on P110 of the Shop Manual which may help if you haven't already got them: http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,8884.0.html

MMM, that could be the same clip but mines chrome!
Maybe its just lost the plastic shroud ?

Thanks

Sounds like it is probably the same one. Mine does appear to have a plastic coating on.
I can't see any other obvious clips in that area, either on the bike or from looking at the Parts List.
And if you want one with the coating on you are out of luck I'm afraid unless you can find one somewhere, this seems to be another NLA part.

I used a length of shrink wrap on mine, the type used on electric cables. It has to be of the bigger size though and is a bit trial and error as it shrinks as it's heated. The end is also left exposed but it looks semi right and stops the cable looms chaffing on the bare metal.
