Wheel builders in the Midlands
« on: March 21, 2017, 03:28:59 PM »
Hi All,
I havent long moved up to the midlands so do not have a network of suppliers/mates to help out with my "projects" yet.
I need to get my wheels vapour blased and rebuilt.
Does anyone know of anyone in the Solihull area that can supply and fit spokes and rims and vapour blast my hubs please?
I would take this on myself but would like it done properly on this bike.
Ive spoken to Central Wheel Components and they wanted £500.00 to do the pair. i'm sure I didnt pay this when I lived down south.
Thanks in advance. :D
I dont ride a bike to add days to my life. I ride to add life to my days.

try Central wheel,

 not far from you

http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/contactus/contactus.html

they supplied spokes and rims for my Honda,

and Hagon supplied spokes and rims for my little Yam

although a local guy built the wheels

A bit further afield there is a guy in Leicester I have seen recommended on other forums but never used.
His name is Robert Coley and he calls his company Leicester Wheel & Brake Restoration.
I don't know what services he offers; I had a quote for wheel building but then didn't go that route.
Contactable on bobcoley1@hotmail.com.

Sounds about right
Vapour blast hubs x2 = £75
New SS spokes     x2 = £140 (butted + nipples)
DID rims              x2 = £206
Lace + true ???

Central Wheels in Brum were a total let down in customer service & the final product. They lied several times through their teeth when promising a quick turnaround of some wheels that a friend wanted sorting & when they finally sent the'finished' product the workmanship was decidedly dodgy. Both wheels were returned to Central Wheels from Kent at my friends expense & 2 weeks later they still hadn't done them to a satisfactory situation.

For the amount of money that they charged, they could do with taking a few lessons in customer interaction & after sales service.

The advice is...take your money elsewhere. (Talon are far better)
