So do you think these valves will be ok with a clean up and a relapping?

You will not until you have taken the valves out to see if there is any pitting, which lapping will never get rid of.

Thanks Trigger, that's the job for this evening.
I'll let you know. Fingers crossed I won't need to buy the valves.

Back to Vapour blasting and cleaning up after, has anyone knocked the plug out of the end of the main gallery that sits behind the alternator. If so what is the process for fitting it back, do we centre pop it around the edges etc?

No need for that, just twat the thing in and friction will do the rest.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

I too relied on compressed air, etc. to clean out the vapour blasting deposits on my 400 casings. I could only find any in the blanked-off oilway mentioned already in this thread. It occurs to me that if doing it again, I could deploy the 'endoscope' thing my wife bought me for Christmas... before the comments come in, it's strictly for engineering use!
Cheers, D.

I bet you have the official Honda twatometer, that was only issued to dealers, and now as rare as hens teeth.

Silly question..........vapour blasting use only water or any "media" more? If only use Water/vapour where is the problem about the cleaning up after?

As i understand it its a water based slurry with glass beads.  Because the glass beads are smooth (unlike sand or grit), it's kinder to the metal.

Has any one tried Soda blasting yet. I am presuming (always a dangerous thing) that any residue would dissolve with water.
