Clutch biting point
« on: April 28, 2017, 06:59:55 PM »
New to the forum and a new owner of a 1977 CB550.
I'm trying unsuccessfully to adjust my clutch biting point. The clutch engages on almost the full release of the clutch lever. So far I have slackened off my clutch cable and checked that the clutch arm on the casing is lined up with the case markings. I have released the lock nut on the casing and turned the adjustment screw anti clockwise to its limit then backed off a little. Tighten clutch cable back up to it full limit but the bite point is the same!
What am I doing wrong?
(Not a mechanic but trying)
Thanks

On the 77/78 you use the locknut/bolt to adjust the arm so that the notch on the arm lines up with the mark on the case when you lift the arm up, fit the cable and adjust cable to specified free play and that's it. If clutch slips its time for new parts if not its OK
