Hi from old/new member
« on: April 30, 2017, 06:53:33 PM »
Hi everyone just a quick message to introduce myself, my names Alan and I live in Edinburgh.
Just coming up for my 60th birthday but never lost the biking bug, had a long lay off from them for many years but back into them again.
Currently got a 1977 400/4 in blue, got it at the end of last year as a runner but a bit tired, so spent most of the winter tidying it up and is now a presentable usable bike.
Won't rabbit on too long but hope to pick up some advice and help as I work my way through the renovation.

Cheers

Alan

Welcome to the forum from another 400four owner and restorer .   You've come to the right place for advice, biking wisdom  and general larking about.
What's left to do on your bike?  Is it running OK?
Best post some pics of your 400 or you'll get moaned at.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Thanks for the welcome   :)

Here's a couple of snaps of the bike, the photos flatter it somewhat there's a lot of rough edges I would like to tidy up before I'll be happy with it, but it's loking a lot better now than when I first got it.

The bike runs ok I haven't done anything to the engine other than an oil and filter change and clean the plugs. It's a bit flat when running and needs the carbs looked at, but plan for this year was just to use it as is, enjoy what good weather, if any, we get and look at all the mechanicals later in the year.

Cheers Alan

Thats a nice little bike Alan. Looks stunning with the sunlight reflecting off the headlamp rim and mudguard. Shouldn't take long to get up to scratch as they are easy to work on and well supplied with parts. Nice one.
