Wiring Harness K6
« on: July 16, 2017, 07:32:41 PM »
I'm rebuilding the front end of my 1976 K6 (US Spec) and the wiring harness for the high beam, neutral etc. has seen significantly better days. I believe I can get a reproduction one from a few sources but before I do would be grateful if anyone can clarify the following...

According to CMSNL the part I want is 37581-374-670.

I cannot find this part or a replacement available anywhere.

Everyone quoting for replacements quotes for 37581-323-000. (I'm pretty sure this was the part number for the K1).

I'm aware that between 1972 and 1976 there were 3 different versions of the light cluster that changed the sequence of the lights and each time it was given a new part number as was the harness (even though nothing else appeared to change such as wire colours etc.).

So, would I be safe to purchase a replacement for 37581-323-000 and just make sure the right bulbs are in the right place?

Many thanks,

I think the early version (K0-K1) with indicator lamps within the clocks would not be compatible ie, cable length & wiring differences.
The later version (K2 onwards, 'dashboard' model) would be the best option. As you mentioned the lighting legend configuration did change a number of times with the 'dashboard' model, but providing the indicator lamps are fitted to the correct legend, then I do not see a problem.
As 'Trigger' mentioned 323 is a CB500 part reference. I think this particular part would also fit the CB750 K2 onwards.
Current bikes:-
Honda CB750 K4 (1974) USA
Honda XL500S (1980) UK
Honda CD175 sloper (1968) UK
Honda CB1100A (2013) UK

Thanks fellas, I meant K2, not K1 in my original post.

FYI: 323 also relates to the 750K2, at least according to this parts diagram...

Many thanks, I think I'll be safe ordering one of the replacements for the K2 part and just making sure the correct bulb is in the correct location. I guess I was more concerned there might be some difference in the loom length, but I can't see why.

Thanks again,

323 means the part was FIRST USED on a 500 four and any use on a different bike is Honda parts bin raiding
