Welcome to the mad world of the SOHC.. Don't know anyone in London how knows these bikes, you could try a member K2-K6 who lives in SW London, he may know of someone in the area who has experience with carbs and points.
Very hard to tune is the bike is a non std set up.

Welcome to the forum Moliva,  unfortunately I've no recommendation as I do my own stuff so don't use anybody in which I could offer any insight for you.

Don't know where you are, but if near me I'd help out with a look at it for you. I'm in no way commercial so it's not a service as such, I'm in SW20.

There is a bike builder /specialist in the Sussex who had to travel to a Honda sohc specialist in Bilsthorpe, Notts' to get a CB750 set up & tuned which he had built but he could not set it up right.. this guy at Bilsthorpe is arguably the best in the business.

Thank you all, my issue is just fine tuning, I'm maybe expecting too much from a 45 year old bike and I'm not sure how smooth it should be. How smooth/quiet do they run when expertly set up?

I will try D + M.

They seem very agricultural next to a modern water cooled bike, very tractor like, so if it goes okay and doesn't misfire, it's probably okay in reality!

If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

I have 2 new bikes + a Honda CB750 K6 which has had a complete nut & bolt restoration rebuilt in a café racer style & it runs /rides fantastic & as good as you can get from one of these bike & perhaps better than they did when these bikes were New due to some modern bits fitted, but my new bikes compared with the Honda are a bit like chalk cheese, however I do really love to ride the Honda just as much as I do the others even though the new bikes run smoother / faster & are obviously more reliable
The Honda however is the best looker by far & I would not part with it  [images in the gallery]
I would not go as far as saying the Honda is agricultural just not quite as smooth  as the modern stuff, but we do have to remember they were designed 40+ years ago.

I am a cb750 engine specialist, and my business has grown out of my developing the cb750 into a race winner. most of my customers are cb750, suzuki gs, z900 70's classics etc.
