500 Carb set up
« on: June 14, 2017, 08:06:45 PM »
Hi all looking for your help please I now have my 500\4 MOT'd and ready to go but not 100% happy with carb set up. It seems to be running ok and ticks over and rides ok but when set up with vacuum gauges they should read between 16-24 cm HG. Mine are at 7cm Hg. any idea what i should do now please?

If they are all reading around the seven mark the carbs are fine, the 16-24 is just academic.

Mine are at 7cm Hg.
At what RPM? Then, sure it's cm? Or is it inch?

the crucial thing is that they are balanced.  If the bike runs well then I wouldn't worry.  I had my carbs balanced by an excellent bike mechanic twenty years ago.  He said no need to do anything more to them unless I take them apart which I have not needed to do.  Still does the ton.

Was it 7 cm or inch you measured?
