I'm trying to get my wheel up to huddersfield. Has anyone sent a wheel before and could recommend a service to use?

Cheers

Put it in a box of suitable size or wrap in cardboard and use Hermes, cheap and reliable as long as it's under 15 kilos, around £10, or for less than £1 extra they collect it from you.

If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Yeah the complete wheel which weighs 19 kg so it's over the Hermes Limit. Will removing the tyre get it to bellow 15 do you think?

Got to be worth a try, and obviously remove the sprocket carrier as well, it all adds weight!

I sent a Triumph T140 Frame (20KG) from Blackpool to Cornwall for £20 via the Parcelmonkey website. Took a few days but there was no rush anyway.....well pleased (as was the Buyer as he paid for the shipping).

For anyone interested the wheel without the tyre is 9.5 kg so well within the my Hermes limit so will be using them. Didn't think the rubber and air would be so heavy.

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions

Have a good one

Given that the alloy is cast onto the metal liner on those drums you have to question pressing or shrinking an insert into the the drum to repair it . I wonder how you would stand with an insurance company or inspection after an RTA ? Personally I would  would try to get an original from the likes of DK or GovnorsBridge . Or am I just being a 'wuss'  and it's known acceptable practice?  Is the cast onto surface on the original steel part profiled or knurled in any way to give better grip between the alloy and the steel ?

Nothing wrong with new liners, I like to pin them in after pressing  ;)

Sorry Trigger I don't quite understand, is there an actual pin in between the liner and alloy or did you hit it with something aka staked

Burro if you wanted a picture of the liner there is one on the first page.

Cheers

Drilled and pined between the outer liner and the hub, in two place to add extra stability.
