combined rectifier regulator
« on: July 09, 2017, 01:53:37 PM »
Hi, first time on here. I am slowly restoring a 77 cb400f, its never going to be a museum standard job. The wiring is mostly unusable,so working with a new loom. Basic home electrics i can just about handle, but not too sure about 40 year old bikes. The old reg/rec is being replaced with an Elecrex reg/rec from Dave Silver, it seems straight forward. My question is when all wired up as per the instructions,on removing the old regulator there is a spare green earth lead, do i simply bolt this to a nearby frame lug? is it that simple.

The spare D/Green wire/Flag connector (as image) that's normally connected to the old regulator can be left loose.
Handy to have if you need to revert back to the OE rectifier/regulator set-up.
