CB750 Forks

I have several sets of front forks, those from the K6/K7 models measure 77cm from the center of the axle to the top of the fork tube when fully extended so spring length/compression is not a factor. A set from a K1 also measure up exactly the same, however, another set of the early type forks I have allegedly from a K0/K1 are 4cm shorter. Have these shorter forks come off something else, like a CB450 perhaps as the fork cases are the same as the early CB750 or did Mr Honda in his infinite wisdom make a change somewhere in the production run?

Hmm  dunno but I can measure some K0 stanchions tonight if that's any help.

The 450 had 341 sliders which were slightly later so if you can find that number on them, usually a sticker and/or black marker that would probably be them

Not Sure if this help Eric but my Oct 69 original stanchions measure 583mm. I don't have the forks together for  me to give you the total length Maybe someone else chan chip in who has the full legs to measure.

FYI 1970 CB450 (K3 I believe) fork lowers are the same as those use on the early diecast CB750 K0. So you may have a set of those??

Just this minute taken mine out of a cb750 K4 and they are 58cm.
Put new ones in which are longer, but I don't know by how much and what difference it will make.
I do know that without compression, the fork spring is not touching the top nut.
I'd say they were 2cm longer.

I hope you don't go fettling your bike with imperial spanners hairy.
For the record, I do my woodwork in feet and inches and bike spannering in mm.  I won't have cm in the house.

Nah, whitworth spanners with a screwdriver wedged in to improve the fit if need be!

FFS, I picked up,a blue tape measure which aphappened to be in cm. The yellow one is in both imperial and metric. I work in both because I am a fisherman and a big barbel is 14 lb.
God knows what it is in Kg, but I don't do it.
Whilst we are on the subject, the tour of Britain has its course in kilometres, not miles, which annoys me to the point of kicking the fkn TV in.
