Problem is, you lunatics are like trying to stop a toddler playing in a cat litter tray, you won't learn until you end up with it in your hands, and probably in your mouth too! Then whingeing about the taste!

Emily Ratajkowski could end up with a similar sort of problem 👍

It's only gone and done it again !, bloody unreliable hondas 😄, starts fine from cold, runs fine at any revs, stop when it's well warmed up (10 miles this time) and it won't start, waited 10 mins and it started with a handful of throttle, then ran fine at any revs again, when I got home I meant to see if it would start hot again, but being a bit senile I forgot and put it away, any thoughts?.

Just a thought here, are you using points or electronic ignition? I knew a guy with a 400/4 with electronic gave similar issues, only when hot, turned out the pick ups were being affected by the heat in the points cover, causing massively increased electrical resistance. That's why superconductors work best at the coldest they can.

Electronic, the original Piranha set up that came with the donor bike, it must be 20+ years old as the previous owner took it off the road in 1995, so you could be onto something there H, I believe that the Newtronic set up is pretty much the same as the old Piranha so maybe it's time to invest in a new one.

If you have the stuff to try it with conventional points, give that a try before spending loads when it may not be the issue, or maybe there are shitalian components in the electronic system! (Couldn't resist that!)

Take a spare plug out with you and if it does it again you can check for a spark there and then on any of the cylinders to see if the ignition isn't working or it's something else.

My dad's friend always just put his finger in the plug caps to check for sparks years ago,  proper old mechanic's fingers he had.

The Newtronic system fitted to my Benelli 750/6 would do exactly as you describe - run perfectly for many miles (sometimes as much as 2,000 miles went by between failures) and then stop producing sparks, only for it all to work normally again a while later.

It's the only bike that I've ever owned that went home on a trailer (twice).

The problem would, when it occurred manifest itself after a short spell of idling (i.e. at traffic lights). Things would then return to normal after everything cooled down.

Ha, actually my 900ss has developed a minor issue, tickover a little high, you can bring it down to normal by quickly cracking the throttle open and shut, I suspect the previous owner may have fitted a Honda throttle cable 😐

Mines got the Dave Silvers one on Mark about £99.00..& simple to fit.

PS... did you get my private message  yesterday ?

Just read it G, bad news followed by good news!, I thought I saw you as I rode away from CMC but I guess it was another thruxton owner.
PS thanks for the DS tip, £99 is a bargain if I end up needing one.
PPS just check on DS website, they are now £110 but that's still cheap.
