Clutch Cable Routing on K2
« on: May 30, 2018, 02:29:44 PM »
Can anybody advise on the correct routing of the clutch cable on a K2 please?

I’ll b3 fitting a new cable tomorrow and just want to double check that mine is correctly routed. I presently have the clutch cable coming down the left hand side of petrol tank and the throttle cables on the right hand side. Is this correct for a K2?

The clutch cable goes through behind the head lamp, to the rear of the off side fork, down the frame and into the clutch housing. The throttle cables go over the off side ear, behind the nearside fork and along onto the carbs. Can supply photos if needed.

Forget the above, I have just remembered you have a CB500 not a CB750.....doh. I will report back on the CB500 in a minute.

CB500....clutch cable down through hole in clocks mounting bracket, along under off side of tank, over through between carbs 1 & 2, down to top of clutch housing. Throttle cables, over top of offside ear, down through and inside offside fork, along and under tank to big butterfly thingy. Can supply photos if needed.

Thanks Julie. By “offside” do you mean “right” and what is the “big butterfly thingy”? ;-)

Yes, offside is right side as sitting on bike. The big butterfly thingy is what I call the part on the top of the carbs where the throttle cables attach to. Just thinking, the CB500 I looked at here is a UK K1, not sure if it makes any difference it not.

Ok, got you. Thanks again. My clutch cable was coming down the near side of the tank. I’ll reroute it when I fit the new one.

Put the new clutch cable in today. Ran it through the instruments and down the right hand side of the tank, under the frame and down between carbs 1 and 2. I’m going to reroute it tomorrow and run it through the coil hole.

Thanks for your help.

Put it through the coil hole but running over the top of the Boyer Brandsen ignition box. Going to try it back under the frame tube again.
