Which wires do I connect?
« on: August 10, 2017, 09:09:53 PM »
Hi Chaps
On my custom build, I'm not planning to have an ignition switch. I need to bypass the switch (on a CB500 wiring loom). Once I have taken the ignition switch away, what wires do I connect to have a constant ignition?. I do not need anything to do with the parking light. I'm not understanding TL1 and TL2 on this diagram. So, what wires do I need to put together to get a constant ignition?
Ta in advance
Julie

Join red to black and brown to brown/white.

What's the plan then Julie because I have some reservations.

I'm fitting a new electronic device where, when I walk up to the bike and sit on the seat the engine starts automatically Mike. What does the TL1 and TL2 stand for?

they are supply for the lights,

when I had  the red wire detach from the back of the switch,I pushed a sharp in through both the red and black wires to get ignition, and ride home,

BUT the tail light didn't  come on

It wouldn't do john.  Joining red to black makes all the black wires live.

For the lights you need to join BR and BR/W.  It's on a separate circuit to enable the parking light feature to function.

Julie, TL1, and TL2, are the connections for the Tail Light, when you turn the standard Ign switch to off (first position) everything is disconnected, and the key can be removed. On (second position) switches the tail light on if the lights are switched on, the key cannot be removed; and park (third position) switches off the Ignition and Headlights but leaves the front parking light on if fitted; and the tail light on. The key can be removed.
Hope this answers your question!
Nigel.
