Not really sure what that is and why he hasn't had his collar felt by now.  Footrests on frame loops definitely 400/4 - but registered 10/71??  I don't think 350/4 fours were quite that early either and definitely no 400's.
Someone will eventually have a problem with that one methinks.

No the 350's were 72 to 74. That's definitely a 400 engine as the clutch mechanism is different on the 350.

Plus he thinks it's a U.K. bike, and all original bar the paint!

The seller is on drugs and if he isn't, he should be. But saying that, he has quite a few bids.....are we missing something?

Also curious to know what the reg number actually relates to, my guess would probably be a 350K twin. What it needs is someone with the spare cash to buy it, take it to an mot station or vosa place and get it checked out. If plod confiscated it, e bays money back guarantee would cover the buyers losses, the idiot selling it would lose everything!

I have contacted the seller and asked for engine, VIN and reg No. It will be interesting to see what is so special / different about this bike.

Probably a USA import looking at the 4 into 2 exhaust. It looks like one of those yank jobs with the horrible flared ends on the silencers, MAC I think they are. Whoever sold it to him was probably telling him lies to inflate the price. Defo a 400/4 and worth buying at £1000, lets see where it ends up.

Roy, might end up with someone who buys 400 Fours, strips them and sells the parts on ebay. One name springs to mind!

Julie, I also asked for details and he came back with a capacity of 349 but he's not at home at the mo (even though the lights are on!) and will come back with V5 details.  As others have said, probably ok to break but not much else, most mot guys will kick that out and call plod.

Thanks Julie,
I really can't imagine how he ever managed to get it past the eagle eyed mot folk previously!
The other thing that really winds me up is that expression 'doesn't need much for mot'. TAKE THE BLOODY THING THEN  and get the market value!

Grrrrh

Put a 350 tank and panels on and most wouldn't know. Its only because we know what were looking at. I wonder how many that bid on it as a 350 knew otherwise.

So now we have a 1971 K reg 400/4?  Yes, it could be a K plate bike but can't have 1971 on the supposed 400/4 V5
I can't be bothered to even reply to his message via eBay (same info as Julie received)

He has ignored the warning - perhaps eBay and plod ought to know to protect the buyer?
