I think Honda UK wont date it because its not an official UK import and thus not on their database, wheras the vjmc presumably wont limit themselves to UK bikes... The funny thing is that its clearly a Honda and the vin number is clearly stamped and also the month and year of manufacture on the vin plate (dec 1973).... plus it looks like a 1973/4 model.... anybody could date it, its all there... Its just a game at the end of the day i guess.. anyway fingers crossed, ill try the vjmc next... I dont want to end up with a Q plate  :-\

Like you say, it's really an unnecessary paperwork exercise as we all know what it is. I haven't seen a Q plate vehicle of any description for yonks now. I suppose it's so much easier these days to get an age related plate issued for a non substantially changed vehicle. Fingers crossed it all sorts itself out soon.

Is the front room to keep the bike in Rob?  :)

My kids still can't quite believe that when we visited my friend he keeps his Ducati in the dining room.

Nice one !

Evidently, Stings machine was personally stripped and rebuilt by the man himself. Apparently his bike was stored in his front room for years on his way up through to stardom.

VJMC and other dating services have micrfiches, once supplied by Honda, that list all numbers against MODEL years, which can be the year after build but thats OKif the model year is over 40 anyway.Very similar to the paper ID book that i have part number 2GMASOO-AH If it is still available.

EDIT, part number doesn't come up but isbn does. If you want heart failure try looking at the following link. I paid less than £20 for mine!

Sadly not... although i do have a mk11 raleigh chopper and a vindec high-riser in the conservatory, much to the displeasure of my missus  :D ...both fully restored too

i had somthing along those lines when i was 13ish...my old man got it from the local dump
it had girder forks and leaf spring on the rear..which me and my mate snapped on a few occasions and my dad welded it up each time getting stiffer and stiffer..and everytime shredding the rear tyre
never seen one since but would love too..all i remember is it was blue and weighed a bloody ton

This one is a Motobecane as in french scooters. Monoshock with coil spring and cast aluminium wheels containing drummed brakes.
I was always trying to make something like this as a kid but without any real facilities.

Funny about their welding,  my dad was always welding stuff when I was younger.
