If you have separated the exhaust headers from the collector or the silencer I would fit a new collar gasket at the joints.  DSS sell these.  Fit new gaskets between the headers and the cylinder head as well.

Hi i have spotted and wiggled out the cylinder to exhaust gaskets, they were so coked up didnt spot them cheers, but cant see any remnants of any gaskets for down pipes into silencer one has a pinch bolt to hold firm the rest seem a very snug fit ? Just to say as i didnt previously its a 75 400/4

Ok looking online, mine must be an aftermarket exhaust as the four downpipes fit into seperate holes in the silencer ?

The original CB400/4 pipes have 2 alternate downpipes welded to the collector box and the other 2 come away from the collector.

I put the down pipes into the collector with copper grease, so I can get them out again.
