Yes all sorted thank you. I'm hoping to get some garage time this evening to start looking at the front mudguard.

Impressive build progress......not wanting to put a dampener on things, but you should 'cure' the engine (crankcase) paint in an oven before you re-install it in the frame. I think there are earlier threads on this Forum on the best way to do it......and good luck.

Thanks all.. it may slow down a bit now due to funds as just bought the Delkevic exhaust for it.. its gorgeous!

I'm having the engine professionally painted and baked at a friends bodyshop he does quite a few bike so I'm hoping for good results.

That being said, I painted my XS750 engine black out of a Rattle can with UHT.. prepped it well and its still holding strong 2 yrs on.

Bit more work last night, finished restoring the rusty old airbox, and chuffed with the rubber mounts bought from china for £2..  they took 4 weeks to arrive but can't fault them.

Sprayed up the foot rest mounts so a few more coats later tonight.

New rear pads arrived but still waiting on the custom sprockets!

My Delkevic arrived.. a big deliberation over the beautiful OEM pipes vs the Delkevic but I wanted to create a bike that was different and I'm very happy!

I have just put a Delkevic system on my Z650 cafe racer project and it looks and sounds really sweet.
Those headers will not stay shiny, they go a nice straw gold colour as soon as you start it up.

Thanks Paul, even better I love that colour!

The best bit is it came with a mounting to frame bracket... so one left thing to paint!

Delkevic seem the way to go now, they have pretty much replaced Motad. Straw finish will look good.
I was looking at this short Delkevic silencer to my Cb550F. As trigger knows the standard silencer is unobtainable. The standard downpipes (similar sweep to 400/4) and collector are all one bit. But the output from the collector is about 2.5 inches dia. (can't exactly measure mine at present as it's with a mate who is attempting to fix the standard silencer.)
Approx what is the i/d of the i/p to that short silencer?

I'll measure it for you when home later...

Thats exactly why I chose it over an aftremarket OEM pipe as it has a similar sweep across the oil filter. And the collector and 4 springs are just gorgeous quality!

This weekend was busy getting rid of the 2 pack paint on my tank..  its god awful stuff! But finally got it in primer just to seal it. She needs filling as found lots of dents but feels good to get that old paint off.

New rear brakes and spring fitted so thats working nicely!

I've decided to be a bit lazy and send the carbs off to get professionally cleaned and set up. For £100 I think it will be money well spent..  I did my last CB500 ones but then still spent £80 to get them balanced and tuned up later.

Today's job is find out how the engine is doing at the paint shop!!

Quick update.. engine back in and looking very tidy, the exhaust studs were a pain but finally have a lovely set of SS one in.

Tank is just in primer etc.. so only playing at the moment.

Delkevic headers look lovely, I now need to really finish a few small areas and then can think about carbs and wiring loom!  Seat, sorting mudguards etc etc..
