Brake pad retaining spring clip
« on: September 25, 2017, 06:59:52 PM »
Finally got round to fitting new piston and seals in each calliper but I've found that on both sides the wee spring clip that passes through both retaining rods and over the shim are missing. No 3 in the diagram .. I can't find replacements anywhere inc Dave silver! My question is are these vital as I'm assuming they have been missing for many years ?   :-\

From memory the ends go through holes in the pins to stop them sliding out, small "R" clips should do the same job, thats what a lot of cars use

Found a used one, but it's in the U.S.  E-Bay number  362110555093
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

It has the R clips at the other end but the side in question has domed heads on the pins and I'm not sure what the purpose of the clip is, as it just seems to hook over the shim from what I can make out so maybe anti vibration??

Thanks Hairygit I will have a look

Bliming heck, seem to be running out of stock. Here is a new one, I would buy this and make another with a bit of the right size wire.
