Replica 'No Number' exhausts from Silvers
« on: October 16, 2017, 08:40:49 PM »
https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB750K1-FOUR-1971/part_217723/

Has anyone seen a set of these in the flesh, so to speak? If so has does the quality (chrome, welds etc) measure up tp the real thing?

I wonder if they will be available for the long term or if they are a limited supply. In the scheme of things, £1200 plus VAT isn't so bad compared with the prices that the increasingly unicorn poo like NOS ones go for.

I always wondered given the silly money that NOS CB750 exhaust sets fetch, why Honda wouldn't want to make them any more, it has to be more straight forward to make and sell them than whole scooters that go for similar money new, and they sell themselves.

Personally there is plenty of life left in my genuine HM300's, but they won't last forever. Although 'no number' pipes aren't strictly right for a K1 AFAIK, its a lot nearer the look and sound of the HM300s than the later HM341 pipes and their increasingly quiet sucessors.

DS HM300 pipes  are made by Yamiya and AFAIK they are top quality. HM341's are DS/CMSNL's own tooled up products  as are HM323's. I think RGP750 has Yamiya HM300's & bet JamesH has bought a few sets.

Ash et all,
Can 341 exhausts be modified to sound a little louder, towards the 300 signature? Trouble is, my 341's are mint.  ::) My K3 sounds so, er.. 'polite' and too bloody quiet. Having had a K0 I know just how these 750's can sound.. ;D
Also, I believe the air box can be modified (drilling a series of holes but not allowing water to get in) to increase the intake roar? I do ride her quite hard in order to have fun (and keep up!) but only comes on sound in the very high reving range.
  Any mods here at all?
  Nige.

If you want louder 341's, just unbolt the end baffles out  ;) I wouldn't go drilling any air box :(
To cure a polite exhaust I would take it out of the private schooling and send it to a council one, I would suggest Thamesmead for the right tone  ;D ;D

Add a set of velocity stacks for the ultimate roar 🙂
Suzuki GT250A (Nostalgia)

Ducati M900 Monster (Handling & character)

In my experience removing the rear ‘diffuser’ from Hm341’s makes negligible difference. I’ve use several of the Yamiya 300 sets and the quality / fit is superb. And they sound pretty awesome. The main baffles in HM341’s are fully welded in Nige so you’ll struggle to replicate the Hm300 sound with them....

Thanks guys.
I was afraid that's the case. Thought they may be welded in place. James, I'll experiment with the ends though. Pity the American market did so much 'damage' to these bikes - (and classic cars!!) As for new 330's from Yamyia, I'd need to take a mortgage out for those  :o and, to be fair, it wouldn't be right for the K3..
This is why, deep down, I'd prefer a K1, both for the exhausts, head stock and Jewel lights in the tach/speedo alone.
  The journey continues... :(

If it’s the sound you want Nigel, definitely worth holding out for a good K1. Probably the best of breed for the K bikes.

Indeed,
Just patience... Won't hold out for a UK one though, as Graham says, they are rarer than UK K0's..
A long journey to North Yorkshire may be on the cards to view one. :(
Love to bring a tired one back to life though!

I had HM300's on my k1 but have taken them off to preserve them the HM341 are considerably quieter and on a long run a godsend as the 300's tend to do your head in after awhile.

I have two sets of 341 replicas and they are excellent quality I hardly ever clean mine and they still look good 4 years later.
