When was 400/4 first sold in 1975
« on: October 20, 2017, 07:35:15 AM »
The UK registered  press 400/4 was a Euro import (JGC 606N ... still around but owner is very secretive about it's very existence ....real shame !)

I know there are probably 1974 reg's around but they are all  imports AFAIK and  not genuine UK registered so don't count. Mine is August 1975 and registered by Cowies in Sunderland MBR 491P.

Anyone on here got a '75 ?

For a mere fiver the DVLA and V888 form I got a whole wadge of history photocopies for it including the first dealer reg ect. (I suspect it was their demo bike at Cowies)

Don't worry James USA CB500K0's do count in my book  :), as the bike was never officially sold here.

Someone is going to chime in 'they are all Japanese imports'.

Have you got a 400 then James ? Lovely bikes ..you are missing out if you don't even though they are small.

Hi Ash,
I have a US import 400/4 (which I know doesn't count!) and the frame number is in the low 500's and engine number just 50 above that.  The cockeyed DVLA system of going back to the beginning of the year on imports put mine on an M reg, which sort of p'd me off at first, until they shot themselves in the foot with a very early tax exemption for it, thus saving me money before I expected and coming from Yorkshire, had me buying drinks all round 🤡
On the subject of the V888, the DVLA have tightened up considerably on that very recently and I have benefitted in the past from finding useful history for vehicles, it's now nigh on impossible to get your fivers worth.  I tried with an MGR V8 I've just bought without success and many others are finding the same.
Just wanting to have a history file on an important vehicle doesn't count anymore.

Ian

Ha ha no not got one Ash. In all honesty they’re a bit small for me. I’d love one in the collection at some point but would seem a waste if I didn’t use it. That said, I’m not using a lot of my bikes at the moment...

Great ..Any chance of a scan for the 'Dropbox links' please  I bought the MCM one off eBay and the pages were missing with the road test !  Remember buying it 'back in the day' though in '75 ..then trundling down to Cowies in Sunderland to look at a Varnish Blue one in the shop window...may well have been the one I own now !

Mine was a cynical type reply more in reference to the 1974 bikes not being genuine UK registered, well someone best call the police, i have a 350 four that is not a genuine UK registered bike, i can absolutely assure you it is genuinely a Honda  and it's genuinely UK registered, maybe not in 1972 but genuinely UK registered. 8)

I've not got a scanner available,  would photo be any substitute of the pages?

Failing that I could post it to you to scan and return, let me know.

Nigel.
