Green earth wire issues
« on: October 30, 2017, 08:41:43 PM »
My wiring is a nightmare, especially the green earth wire which looks as like some heavy current has gone down it at some stage.

The green wire is earthed to the frame just by the coils. Is it earthed to the frame anywhere else?

Thanks.

Battery negative lead to RHS upper rear engine mount bolt on 500, possibly 550 too.

Yes, that one is in place.

One of the few cables that look in reasonable condition.   :(

Without the heavy duty earth cable connecting the battery to the frame, the return current will use the thinner earth leads and over heat them, that why the thick earth strap is so important.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Over heating of the green wire within the harness is a common issue with many of the old Honda's (see image) The old PVC insulation had quite a low temperature rating. Thin-wall insulated cable (higher temperature rating) provides a better solution
