Cb500K3 wiring loom wire gauge
« on: November 05, 2017, 11:22:29 AM »
Hi

I have now fitted the UK handlebar switch but I need to rewire the rear light to fuse and fuse to switch etc to enable it to all work correctly.
Can anyone tell me the gauge of the wire please?
Also were can I obtain some bullet connectors and sockets?

Many thanks
Dave

As you are in Tewkesbury you can have some connectors from me in glos but not till after 19th as I am having a Holiday with my wife in Sunny? Norfolk. Might also have an old loom to scavenge wires from. You can ring me on 07795162623 after 8pm tonight if you wish but not after that till 19th mate

Either of these sites sell the wire and uninsulated bullet connectors

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu

https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk

You need to select the wire gauge to the application so for lighting aim for 15 amp or 1.0mm2
If you buy the bullet connectors be sure to get the little sleeves that slide over the finished connection and you'll also need the crimp tool if you don't already have one.

Hope that helps.
Peter

Crimp tool needs to be for the uninsulated connectors, not the insulated type.   Different tool entirely.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

'w' crimp tool for un-insulated terminals as image. 3.9mm connectors are easily found today. You may need adjust/replace the existing sockets on your harness as most Honda's (1960's early 1980's) where fitted with 3.5mm bullet/socket connectors.
Current bikes:-
Honda CB750 K4 (1974) USA
Honda XL500S (1980) UK
Honda CD175 sloper (1968) UK
Honda CB1100A (2013) UK

That was my whole point.
