Float Height

When measuring the height of the floats what sort of angle would the carb bodys need to be at for the most accurate level.
I have done some research....some say upside down....some say 90 degree....some say 45 degree.

Any ideas

I've always measured them on the side with the float tang just touching the needle of the inlet valve. Make yourself a float gauge to set the correct height. There's plenty of threads on here about 400 carbs and float heights.
