CB500 Carbs
« on: November 13, 2017, 10:05:25 PM »
I've just completely stripped carbs down completely to the Body.

After cleaning in the ultrasonic cleaner I found a black thin rubber cap about 10mm long and probably 2-3 mm in diameter? It looks as though it is a cap over a tube! Does anyone know what this maybe as I can't find it on any technical diagram? Must say this was after I cleaned them whole in order to get the initial grime off the outside and not after broken down!!

Also not too sure what to do with the Carb body in terms of finishing. Does anyone have any suggestions to what they have done as the blue/grey cover looks OK but in places seems to have deteriorated... Probably would like to get back to original as will be polishing caps / bowls!

Thanks for any assistance!

No idea what the rubber cap is but in terms of the carb bodies you could try getting them vapour cleaned especially as you have them completely stripped down. I took my 400/4 carb bodies to I Cleenz Machines in Penge, South London. Cost was £25 per carb although that was also with an ultrasonic clean as well with loose jets. The finish came up really well, looked like new.

Won’t let me post a photo as saying file too large!! Am I restricted to posting photos??

For posting pictures they have to be small

If you are using a PC view the picture as normal then use the standard windows supplied “snipping” tool to copy it and save as a .jpg file

Now it will be small enough to post on the forum

By the way I am confused by your post what bike are you referring to?

On the 4 parts 11 and 12 are not what oddjob is referring to so assuming you are referring to your 600 not a four

If you have multiple bikes be clear which one you are referring to so folks can help better

Sorry didn’t mean to sound like a moderator there which I am NOT !

There's a FAQ here on pictures:

http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,1825.0.html

Although server memory is a lot cheaper that it used to be, the average size of an image has risen faster :)
Unless you use a massive HD or UHD screen, 1024px is plenty large enough for a forum image.
