At least Im keeping this bike and it should be worth about what im spending on it, I restored a wee GT125 last year and before I knew it I had spent £3000  plus all my labour and ended up selling it for £2400 as thats all it was worth someone got a nice 125 out of it though. It isnt any cheaper restoring a smaller bike if you only work to one standard.

Totally agree, I helped my brother restore a CB125 (1972) and the costs were no different.. apart from less engine components it was all the same costs as a larger bike.

Personally the only money in bikes is buying cheap barn finds and selling them to idiots like us to restore... in fact if less of you all restored your CB400's mine would be worth more!!  :P

The CB250RSA restoration costs are up past the £2.5k mark so far and it's still in bits! I spent over £80 last week on tiny O rings, 10 external circlip and 10 thrust washers for the gearbox shafts! I could have bought cheaper from the Web but I only trust OEM parts in a gearbox, I don't fancy the thought of a circlip letting go at 70mph in a gearbox!
