Be careful with any replacement Bomber K0 seat covers Roy it should have GREY piping not black to be like the original.

Kettle738 on here  donated me one (with LOGO) from the far east that looks very good quality but it has silver piping ...I am trying to source the correct grey piping for it as there is a vehicle upholsterer in Hull (D.L. Barr & Sons) who I used to be at school with (Well one of the sons) , who can stitch it in for me. I did think of using vinyl dye  but that's a last resort.

I also have tried to source the grey piping Ash, but as you say all the ones available are a very vivid silver. I am going to go with black and possibly a lip front as well as I intend to use the Bomber as a daily rider....... Although I do like it to be correct where possible I'm not too bothered by little bits like that, especially if it makes for easier use..... If it was a part that cant be easily put right later though, it would have to be correct. I have gone the extra mile to get a correct front mudguard rather than the incorrect Silvers item...... I did buy a set of Silvers silencers (before the price goes up yet again) and they are a very good replica. Only difference I can see is the welded lip is very slightly larger. That said, you would have to get both silencers next to each other and look closely to see it. And that I'm afraid for me is Get a Life Time.  ;D  The biggest problem with the silencers is that they are made in Italy, and we all know about Italian chroming.

I'm surrently waiting for an early CL450 seat from Texavina in Vietnam. I'll let you know how it is and how much I get hammered for duty etc when it gets here, it seems to be coming via turtle.

Anyhoo, they do a Black Bomber seat with the Logo in white, silver, gold or none, piping in grey black and white, with or without the lip. I couldn't comment on accuracy for the CB seat, but the CL one looks the business and is unobtainium elsewhere.

After long consideration I am going to go with this Bomber seat. I know it's not standard, but in use it will be far more practical. At the price I may just order a correct low front/grey piping standard seat as well. Will wait and see what the the quality is like first. Sorry Ash, I know you will be squirming at that decision.

Not that daft I bought a genuine flip front for ££££ for mine. Still undecided though..suppose it's a bit of an investment anyway though given the rarity of original Honda seats for the Bomber.

A guy at Stafford told me that if your using a Bomber a lot with a standard seat the paintwork on the back of the tank gets damaged. Also the grey piping quickly looks scuffed and dirty. That's the reasoning behind this seat purchase. May get my genuine seat correctly recovered at some point.

What the guy at Stafford should have also told you Roy is that the flip-front seat steel base is formed to create the 'flip hump'and has a very sharp edge  at the top, which wears through the vinyl cover after a period ....DAMHIFKT ! see Pic.  Honda must have improved on this because on the CB750 duck-tail seats,  the ducktail 'hump'is created with a hard rubber insert. BTW I have never seen a 750 repro set (not even Yamiya) that has that hard rubber insert. The Bomber seats have a very subtle, but unique, vinyl grain pattern and the material is extremely thin and very hard to replicate. So on balance, if I had an nice original seat, I think it would be easier to repaint a flat black tank than replace that cover with anything as unique as the original.

Thats interesting Ash, the guy never mentioned anything like that. Of course he was trying to sell a seat he says he had back at base. What period was the lip seat sold? Did Honda change to the flat seat due to the failures? I guess if the vinyl can't be replicated the replacement seats should be made from a thicker material and may be okay. As I mentioned, I can always get my original seat recovered later, it's not a big job to swap. That said, I guess you can't get the original vinyl to do the either. Cheers.

I am hoping that Mick (Kettle738) will chip in here as he is a real guru on those Bomber seats. From my limited understanding, Honda  UK bit the bullet and bought a large stock of CB450K0's in 1966 and they sold poorly so they never imported any in 1967. Some were languishing in dealers until the early  1970's. Ken Ives pepped a few up by painting them red and adding chrome guards and clip on handlebars, etc to help them sell. Plus, in the States, there was the 450D kit that you mentioned in another post, to try to shift them too. the flip-front seat (also seen on late CB72/77's) was introduced in 1967 I believe. I don't think there were any 1965 bikes sold here apart from the press bike FYN 444C  that was in the Honda ads.

Very hard item to find, an original Bomber seat......as Ash has already mentioned, the vinyl they used is unusual and seems to be specific to the Bomber....I suspect there might be a manufacturer in Japan who could reproduce it as per Yamaiya CB750 seats, but I've never seen anything even close in the UK.

The photos attached (hopefully) are of a seat from an original UK bike with just 2,500m from new, definitely the best Bomber seat I have ever seen, even the foam had escaped the usual crumbling and the typical crush marks at the front as it had such little use and the previous owner was quite a small chap.

Grey piping, white Honda logo ...... the cover I passed onto Ash with silver piping came from the far east, Pit Replica on ebay, the best I have found by far as they are tailored covers that use the original tabs, not glue.  Once I had pointed out the error they were happy to supply a cover with grey piping......the idea being to make a decent spare seat to preserve the original.

Has anyone noticed that the Honda seat logo has returned. Here's an example and look at the rest of the adverts it brings up. Putting Piki out of work.  ;D    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CB450-BLACK-BOMBER-SEAT-COVER-BEST-QUALITY/261374076961?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D531d29035829443ca2d9f0ff3d9df5dd%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D261374076961&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
