Sorry Uli ..a long, long way from me..  and I don't know any members on here that are close ..he is in a fairly isolated bit of Suffolk. I  could ask someone on VJMC Facebook for you though if you tell us or PM me the bikes.

I'm around 60 miles away and don't mind taking a run out there on a decent weather day (such as the two that we've just had). I don't work any longer, so any day when the sun shines and it's not frosty would be a candidate.

The VJMC Suffolk branch has quite a few members who might be closer or could help more quickly if time is pressing, as Ashimoto KO has said.

If you need me to go, let me know details and I'll be on the case as soon as possible!

Thanks, mates.
Bikes in question are that 73 Suzuki T500 (for me)  and that brown 750 K1 for a friend of mine.

Don’t know much about DS beside buying parts from him and that he’s one of the big players.

That would be buying bikes via E-mail. Certainly not a recommended way in common.

Any thoughts?

BTW: what is OTR price?

He's also has this early squared off crankcase CB500K0 Uli.. I didn't want to mention it, in case it was one you were looking at.

I'm not sure whether "On The Road" would help very much if you plan to export the bikes from the UK, as I understand it means Registered here with an MOT Test and Road Tax (although the latter is free of charge for bikes of that age).

I have bought quite a lot of spares from DS over many years and often, if I am collecting them, have wandered into the used bike warehouse. I think that the descriptions do match the bike concerned quite well and there always seems to be someone collecting a bike or two when I have been there. All of the older bikes that I have bought have been from within the motorcycle trade sight unseen and, to date, I have never been unhappy with any of them. Where problems have arisen, the seller has always offered to pay for repairs or has willingly paid for parts that I have bought and fitted myself to sort matters out. Personally, I would not hesitate to buy a DS bike from his description and photos.

In any case, if you do want me to visit let me know. I have been out on my classic and newer bikes over the past three days and the forecast for next week (when DS reopens) seems quite good. I'm not sure however whether buying or rejecting a bike based on my recommendations would be any better than doing the same from DS's own descriptions!

Now that i like, i have always liked the 500's, i also like the higher bars of the stateside versions, but that sissy bar would have to go straight in the bin.

I just sended an E-Mail to DS:

Dear Sirs,

we, thats me and a friend, are interessted in stock number

102067 (CB750four K1, brown) and stock number
102055 (Suzuki T500)

Can you please send me further info:

- What documents are send with at "as is" price?
- Are the import duties to EU paid (VAT and customs duty)?
- Shipping cost to Germany, near Stuttgart: how much would it be for both bikes together?

Regarding K1:

- What exhaust pipes are mounted (HM300 or 341)?
- does engine number and frame VIN "match" (is engine number a K1 number)?
- any accidents known, frame straight?

Regarding T500:

- Does she ran or at least does engine turn?
- Any major dents/dings/dongs to the exhaust?
- any accidents known, frame straight?

Thank you in advance,

Ulrich  Woerz

@flatfour

Thanks for offering help. Will wait for answer first. Keep you informed.
cheers, Uli

Hope that won't be the one with the brown metal-flake paint James  :D
