Just had my CB750K4 Fork Stanchions reground by Dynasurf in Sandbach.

Great service........sent them on 3 January and received them back today £135 + £12 for 'Next Day' Carriage.

I might have got 'new ones' for slightly less, but who knows where they were made and what material they were made from ?

Happy to recommend them.

There was some comparison in a magazine of forks hard chromed by Phillpots and ones done by a.n. other company that were a bit cheaper. From memory the article advised paying the bit extra and using Phillpots but I a wracking my old brain now to remember which magazine it was in or who the other company was. Will look tonight. Certainly interested if they are coming recommended though.

always used phillpots and asked them recently if they would give me a discount on two sets of forks. they agreed to £20 off the bill which seems fair, but i will ring dynasurf to see if they will do the same. phillpots prices seem to have gone up too. i paid £160 a pair last time.

Is Dynasurf's price inc VAT?. If not, they are very similar to Phillpots retail prices.

Used them about 2 years ago for the forks on a CB90OF Freddie Spencer Rep that had Marzocci forks fitted (of a Laverda I recall) - did a great job and can recommend them based on that job

I was 'half expecting' the £135 they quoted to have VAT added to the total, but their E Mail response when I enquired said:

QUOTE  - '£135.00 is the total inclusive price to re-chrome a pair of standard fork stanchions. If you require carriage back to you, that is an additional £12.00'........and that's what I paid.

If other sohc Members are going to use Dynasurf.....we might get a Club Discount.....if you ask upfront..........who knows ?

I also sent Dynasurf an E Mail to say that I had recommended their services on the sohc Forum.

Possible the mag was getting a kick back from Philpotts though Ash, or a cheap job on a project of theirs for a positive review. Hard chrome is hard chrome, the chrome is the same but the job done may be slightly superior I suppose.

Yes quite possible Ken and it may not have been Dynasurf anyway

One big factor in the quality of the job is the grinding.. yes chrome is chrome but the surface finish of the final grinding can be very poor i.e. too coarse. I have seen some reground forks that you could file your nails on....
