Someone should tell Honda that there is a far easier profit to be made selling parts for their ‘heritage ‘ legacy, than all the jet skis, cars, snowmobiles whatever, which all need marketing budgets salesmen etc, while our stuff sells itself. Make new genuine exhausts  and the world will beat a path to your door.

Thinking about it, my total spend with Honda itself over recent years, zero, total spend with D Silver, EBay etc on NOS, thousands. This is why Sochiro Honda vowed to keep making spares forever, but they ignored that before his body was cold.

Other manufacturers are smarter.

Looking at your vehicles, Porsche asks about 15 tsd. Euro for a targa roof e.g. for my 84 3.2 Carrera
cheers, Uli

There was a lengthy discussion about this exhaust sale on Facebook VJMC site .. the usual squabbling & idiot comments plus a few that were of merit. The whole thread was then pulled for some reason and dissapeared.. a bit of a shame as at least  two members came out of the woodwork and said they had NOS 400/4 systems stashed away and were willing to sell.

Our old mucker 'Bikepusher' commented on there that when Honda stopped making 400/4 exhausts, Sankei continued to supply David Silver directly but left the HONDA stamping  on the silencers. Honda then moved in and threatened him with legal action. Not sure if this is true or not but that's what pees me off about Honda ..they don't want to support us with remaking deleted parts but prevent other people from doing so if they can. Yamiya must have a special relationship though ...they have been selling repro 750K0 seats for yonks and they have always sported the HONDA logo.

The eBay one is still available I see,  so maybe £2k is more than anyone on the planet is willing to pay.

I've just seen your post Uli, an early CB750 and a 3.2 Carrera (even if yours doesn't have a proper roof) obviously a man of taste.

Porsche have become switched on to their 'legacy' market of classics, and regularly remake parts which have become unobtainable over the years. They also signed me up for their Classic Register, sent me some free stuff and a newsletter, and offered to clean and valet my car 4 times a year at their dealership, free. They know there is money to be made from classic owners, unlike Honda.

I think David Silver, CMS & Yamiya all the same Jensen...single skinned headers  :(
 :(
I evaluated some from CMS  ..they didn't fit without a struggle.

Please see this thread.

I bought a nice aftermarket set, probably italian, it has the double skinned headers, nice exhaust damper and all the clamps. Coparing with a NOS original set, it's heavier, and has nicer chrome...

OK, new CB400 downpipes are expensive.

What about those for CB550 or CB750 F1 and F2?
cheers, Uli
