Cheers, for that. I have a 26mm and a 20mm hole cutter in the new set. It's better for them to stretch to fit rather than be too big.

Brass bush approx sizes 21 id 25 od but if using brass you dont use the felt, that is only on the original 500 and 750 i think, maybe 450.
All the later onrs use a phenolic top hat type i think

According to CMS the felt washers are used on the CB350F, CB450, CL450, CB500, CB550K and CB750. If I make some I'll bung a few sets on Ebay.

First attempt.

One problem, whilst I can do a 26 x 20 felt washer quite easily and a 12 x 8 easily I have found I cannot do the small ones for the choke as the cutters for the 10 x 6 that they require both use the same mounting position so I cannot cut them both at the same time, unlike the others. Plus after checking a 500 carb body it would appear that the 500 is the same size as the 400, the problem is 9mm is too small and 9.5mm is fractionally too big. The shaft is 6.8mm. There are no 9mm cutters in the set.

Looks like I'm going to need to get creative.

A swinging arm washer and 2 lifter washers. I didn't hammer hard enough for the swinging arm one, hence why it's a little fuzzy on the inside edge. They do seem a lot more robust than the previous ones I made by hand.

I now have most of the bits together to rebuild my 400/4 carbs. Could someone clarify the size of the felt washers for me?

12 x 8 for the lifter spindle, the choke ones are very hard to make, I seem to recall 10 x 6.9,  Bryan tested the ones I made and said the attrition rate was around 50%, that may be because he was the first to test them and maybe they'd be better once you knew exactly how to fit them. I'll have a try on a set of 500 carbs and see how I do.

I think if the felts were soalked in oil for some time they may hold together better, the originals seem to be a denser felt
