Standard coils or Boyer Micro Coils
« on: February 17, 2018, 07:03:40 PM »
Got all the wiring bits to start wiring the CR Rep except the coils (have standard used coils). Was going to go the Dyna coils route but having read the sohc.net threads (and Hondaman site) there is a danger of wiring overload due to the coils lower resistance and increased current draw, have decided to either stay with repo standard (KOKUSAN) or Boyer micro power coils if I decide to go for Boyers Electronic Ignition.
Hondaman also says that due to the increased current draw, if the charging system isn't 100% , then could cause problems - I'm  using the race alternator so could be an issue (Hondaman recommends resisters with the Dyna and says Dyna is best for track bike)

Question is do the Boyer coils also create the above problems - info just makes reference to 'The miniature digital ignition coils have a very low primary resistance and a very high quality iron core'.
Thanks
Phil

The Boyer systems will be fine which ever one you use, the coils are also fine, Boyer have been doing this a long time now and will also give good technical support even via the telephone.
