Hi from Derbyshire
« on: February 19, 2018, 06:59:27 PM »
Hi,
I'm a retired firefighter from the Peak District and have been into bikes all my life. I enjoy restoring older bikes and have just finished a Kawasaki KH500 which I'm looking forward to getting out on the road. But I have always had a thing for the Honda CB750, until 5 years ago I owned a lovely Candy Gold K2 which I sold and have regretted ever since. So I have just taken delivery of a pretty rough 1971 Valley Green K1 31,000 miles  which I intend to restore and have already started to take apart. All my experience with motors so far has been limited to two strokes so I have joined The forum to hopefully glean some information, tips and advice from you all when I start to dismantle the motor.  Who knows I may be able to contribute myself when I'm done! So thanks for having me.

She doesn't look to bad. Put some proper pipes and fork gaiters on it and your good to go.
I found its really hard to get a good picture of the green bike it just doesn't pop like the other colours.

Cheers Guys,
its worse than it looks, all plastic panels & headlamp shell cracked and broken (possibly repairable) air cleaner broken and useless, chain guard broken, fork tubes heavily corroded, front mudguard damaged, rear mudguard badly corroded,  oil leaks from cylinder head area and it needs a new swing arm...a previous owner had installed it incorrectly and its damaged the bush housing.. ill try and find a pic. but apart from that its what I expected!  :)

top is damaged side, bottom what it should be like!  It must have handled like a pig..the wheel was obviously not straight in the frame!  :-\

Hi and welcome from another Derbyshire type. Where in the Peak are you based? Is that Derwent Water in the background on your avatar?

KH and CB / chalk and cheese. Be different riding experience....

One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....
