Hi, have been riding for near on 48 years ( started young) and have ridden Japanese bikes with the exception on a greeves / dot scrambler and my current 865 T100 bonneville all my riding life. I have owned a few honda's the largest being a 75 Honda cb500/4. I currently ride a Suzuki GSX 1250 FA for touring and a triumph T100. I am looking to source now a very clean Honda CB 750/4 k series to add to my current bikes. I live in the NW of the U.K. ( unfortunately) and hanker for a life on the continent ( each and every day I wake and look out of the window and ride our pathetic road network ). So I look forward to meeting current members at some point. I have already received some valuable advice on ownership from A few current members which has been encouraging. Good to be aboard.

Welcome Paul.

Ditto on uk roads (crowded) can be great otherwise. We go to France alot and you can feel your stress levels drop at Calais and then rise again on return. Just the sheer volume of vehicles.

If you are wanting to meet others, do a forum search for the Crich Classic Bike meet we are having in July. Pretty close if you are only in Stockport.

One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Welcome from Orkney Paul,
We lived in Southport (not so far away) for many years and I feel for you with the constant grid lock and poor surfaces, although even our roads in Scotland are deteriorating badly and not what they once were.  We used to go touring on a ‘Wing all over Germany, Netherlands and Austria and the stress only started when leaving the Hull docks on our return home.
Lots of great advice available on here and most have been there, done that but only use the T shirt for polishing as it’s now too small.  There’s a good VJMC section near to you with some very tasty bikes.

Ian

Just a thought , in all my years of riding more particularly in the last 10-20 years I've still not seen any body riding a classic Honda in the area nw uk ?. When mines registered and hopefully reliable enough to get some miles on it I hope to visiting a few of the local haunts in Derbyshire so stop me if you see me, I'll be on a k6 750 which is finished as a k2 ( red). Look forward to a chat.

Hi Paul, I'm not a million miles away in Stalyvegas, give me a shout when you're on the road we'll have to go out for a ride somewher, or meet up someplace.

K6 finally registered and on the road. Managed a short run to clear its lungs a little yesterday - interesting experience as I have not ridden a similar bike since 1976 when I last had my Honda CB 500/4. All my riding has been on more modern m/c's with efi etc. After struggling out of my village up hill with it spluttering away , I realised I had left the choke on ( first mistake - use to auto chokes), ride felt a little unstable so have reduced tyre pressures to 2 below recommended. Adjusted chain. Guess one has to just get use to thinking this is a 42 yr old bike and it's not going to be super slick !!. You just have to love them for what they are. The engine is smooth as is the gearbox, clutch rattles / clatters away on tickover but as soon as its pulled in  - sounds fine. Reading the threads this sounds reasonably normal ?.
What I would like to do is get to know how to service this beauty properly so any advice on essential equipment for points / carbs / valves welcomed ?.
Hope to bump into fellow owners soon.
Regards
Paul
