Carburetor Main jets
« on: April 12, 2018, 05:26:22 AM »
I am going to be overhauling and ultrasonically cleaning my carbs when I get home I have overhaul kits, I am fitting a Marshal deeptone tailpipe to a standard set of headers so I am thinking a good place to start would be with 80 main jets any thoughts on this and where abouts can you buy them in the UK.

If you are keeping the original air box, there is a chance you won't need to re-jet, if anything pilot and main jets may need to come up one size.

Sounds as if it would be worth trying standard first I will give that a go. Is it worth trying a colourtune in the Hondas or Am I better just doing a plug chop.

Colourtune is only really any good for setting up idle mixture on these Hondas.

I found the colourtune a fiddly waste of time. They are designed for car engines where access is easy and not an air cooled engine with hot fins covering the plug locations. Burnt fingers are mandatory and be careful when installing the plug, it has a very short thread.

I think your right with the colourtune the last time I used one was on my 1976 BMW 316 cause it was running to rich I think that's what it was designed for I'm no stranger to messing about with jets being a 2stroke  man.
