Fact or Fiction?
« on: May 05, 2018, 07:23:42 PM »
Hello Folks.
Was there any truth in the rumours of the day.
That the sohc 750k's were detuned after the K2.
Then the original power restored on the F1?
Just curious.
Sean.

All the engines were basically the same ( apart from the evolution of the engines) .  F1 and all F2 had higher compression domed pistons and the F2 had the bigger valves. So, were do you get this bull shite ?  ;D
Carbs are basically all the same, apart from the F2 and late K's had PD carbs

Some info here to sort out what happened and why.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=7401.0

As Trigger says,  all the pre F series engines are effectively the same design with no claims to a different horsepower rating for each of them, 67 BHP across the board is quoted.
Emissions and smooth running seem to have brought many minor adjustments.

Most of the little changes like the cams and the inner baffles were only on yank units. The UK K2, that ran from 1972 to 1975 were identical in the engine department internals  ;)

As I said. It was the word at the time.
It was also  said of the Z900 & the S/KH250's
I just thought I'd raise the subject.

The Z900 was lighter than the Z1 due to the use of thinner wall tube on the frame. Hence the hinge in the middle reputation. It was also down a couple of horses due to emissions regulations, mainly in California.

If you read honda mans book and posts on the us forums he mentions
That some models  were down on power compared to earlier ones although the stated bhp remained the same I think he referred to the k7
