I had one of those John back in 1980. It had been painted black with a nose fairing so at least it looked fast! The guy who owned it was actually an undertaker so maybe he had a job lot of black paint!  It was a nice bike apart from the front cable operated disc brake.  I was slowing down one day in heavy traffic when it locked on (I think the release ratchet broke in the caliper). It sent me over the handlebars!
I used to like the green metallic ones.

We had a green one, we re-sprayed it blue. Come to that I had my 500, candy garnet brown and re-sprayed that blue. Liked the CB175s, but never took to the 200. The cam seized and never really found out why. Looked spotless inside engine.
Don't like blue bikes now.  ???

I had a green one when I was 17 , the clutch slipped, it was before I had any mechanical knowledge, or money, so I rode it for a year with a slipping clutch 🙂, I was talking to someone a couple of weeks ago he’d got a nicely restored red one, he said he was sure the one he had in the 70’s was twice as fast! 😄, what do they do 70mph ?

EDIT
80+ evidently, just found this , scroll down past the spec to find a really good article from cycle magazine 1974.

Like the bit about "if fuel ever goes over a buck a gallon".....

Good article telling lots about the basic motor development from 125 etc.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Interesting winter project there John. Keep the photos coming and maybe start a fantastic detailed restoration thread as Julie did.

just been looking around, and for some reason the PO dismantled the seat lock plunger ,
the one that is rubber mounted on the seat and pushes down into the lock, and the 2 rubber bushes and metal tubular spacers are missing

  part mumbers 772 283 40000  bushes
                        772 293 40000 metal spacers

  both 2 off ,

obviously I can get them from CMS nl ,but if anyone has a couple spare, please let me know https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb200-england_model16413/partslist/F05.html#.WzzbgdJKjIV

  items 38-39

Looks to be a sweet 200, have seen very good mudguards on ebay some time ago. I think DK broke some they shipped from the states.

Nice little collection starting there John.
I think for wheels probably more economic to replace wheels and spokes for new rather than re-chrome.
Mudguards harder to source so re-chrome.
Just my opinion.

Like the 200/2 John.  After years of fettling Hondas it be more familiar to you than the Yam.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
