Mechanical know how
« on: June 13, 2018, 09:08:30 AM »
Hi, I recently purchased a k6 (cb750) - I have a few questions I would like to put to a knowledgable owner. Ideally I would like to meet up with someone in the north west of the U.K. To have a chat ?. Perhaps a meet for a coffee. I want someone to listen to the bike and guide me on certain mechanical issues ?. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Paul

I found that just getting stuck in, figuring out how things worked visually helped my understanding and confidence no end when working on bikes. I still have a to to learn but have fully rebuilt a K6 engine.

Hondamans book is a good investment, basically walks you through a restoration

There's usually a discount/coupon code available from Mark.

I've PM'd him on the US site for availability.

I've got this book (and I've never owned a 750!) :)

Answer from Mark:

I have been trying to post them in the "Site supporters' section here: they last about 2-3 days and I get one almost every week. Tell them to keep an eye in the forum, it will pop up soon! They are usually either 'free postage' or '10% off' or up to '20% off', always for about 2-3 days and usually on Monday (when I get their notices). The last ones were BOTH 10% off AND free shipping, which would be pretty good to UK. :)

They can also search the 'net for "Lulu Publishing coupons". There are some out there for 30% off sometimes. That's cheaper than even I can buy them! I had a friend buy some for me that way (I can't) when someone around here wanted signed copies a couple of years ago. Summertime is when the ads get bigger, because people stop reading the usual 'stuff' like paperbacks, etc.

He's talking about the "Site Supporters" section of http://forums.sohc4.net  (not this site)

Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

Great book, I've just bought it from lulu site, searched for vouchers and got a 15% discount...seems expensive but personally I think it is well worth it. Loads of tips and info in there.

Crispy, where in Derbyshire are you based. I ride there most weeks around edale,Castleton, monyash, ashford etc . I tend to migrate to monyash to the cafe adj the black bull these days as its a reasonable round trip from Marple.
