I finally got around to fitting taper roller steering head bearings to my F1, but the steering stop lugs are a bit too low to engage with the stop on the head.
I assume this is because of the large thick washer that is fitted at the bottom of the stem, and then the rubber dust seal. The original bottom washer is very thin, and I'm thinking that if I refit a standard size (thin) washer instead of the very thick one then all should be tickety boo.
Has anyone had similar problems when fitting these bearing kits?
P.S. this restoration project seems to be taking forever!
