Sump Removal
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:07:01 PM »
Hi.

I'm about to service my 550F2 and in the Haynes Manual it says that the sump plate should be removed and the oil strainer removed and cleaned.

Is this a big job? Can it be done without removing the exhaust system? Does it involve lots of swearing?

Is it worth doing?

Hi mate

easiest job going. Once the oil's drained (idle the bike for a short spell to warm the oil first), you can drop the sump straight out and the filter's easy to reach (right where the sump was)
Find a great bike, and simplify it... gotta love a good bobber
