Air filter case washer 17318-323-010
« on: August 12, 2018, 04:38:57 PM »
I'm beginning to get a little frustrated with this after working on it for hours. I noticed that the filter element didn't sit poperly in the housing and noticed that the reason is there is an M6 nut in the way. The washer 17318-323-010 has a captive thread and doesn't protrude into the case very much at all but a nut does. This washer sits inside the case at the bottom and connects the housing with the carb intake box.

This part is listed as unavailable, although there is a seller in Italy with one that will cost me £30.00 shipped... >:(

I'm sure I'm not the first to come across this issue and there must be a work around but for the life of me I can't work it out. How have others got along without this part please?

Might have cracked this, just found an M6 chimney nut 19mm wide on Demon Tweeks for £1.35 pluss 95p P & P that looks as if it will do the job. I'll keep you posted in case it works and others have the same problem...

Nope, there are two  ;D ;D You have to be very careful, as all the spacers have to be the right size or it will crack the plastic when you tighten up the bolts  ;)

The spacers appear correct Graham, could you please measure the width and depth of the chimney on those when you get a chance please? I can probably make something usable with what I've ordered.

Sure I have one of those around somewhere, seem to recall spotting it in a box of bolts only the other week. You need it?

If you have a spare I would really appreciate it. Let me know the cost and I will be more than happy to reimburse you.  ;D

While I'm at it, could some kind soul please measure the air cleaner plate, part number 17331-323-000 and looks like the picture below. It goes between the air filter body and the carb intake box and is now unobtainable.

I need the metal thickness, maximum width and height please. The rest I can make up as I go along using the picture and housing as a guide. Thanks, Sye

Doesn't look like that Sye, goes between the filter case and plenum chamber on the top bolt. Thought that didn't look familiar, just looked at my parts book and no idea where CMS got that picture from but it's not the CB500K

It doesn't look like the picture above, that's something else I need to make. It looks like this:

Yep, that's the part I'm after Oddjob.

I also need dimensions of the second one I pictured. Dohh, serves me right for going off at a tangent. I should have started another thread.

I got a air box from Germany or was it Holland some years ago that had one of those plates Ken. Not sure if it was for the European 500 four that had that scoop/ram air top, as we had the tool tray  ;)

Are you saying I don't need it Graham, the parts fiche shows it fitted on the UK K1?
